Depth

For this assignment, we were experimenting with Depth. We had to take photos of Foreground/Background "objects", Repetition, and Leading Lines. All of these categories deal with depth. The Foreground/Background photos were the hardest to obtain, we had to take pictures of objects up close while making sure that the background was clear in the photo. Repetition was easy to find. Almost everything we see has some sort of repetition. Lastly, we had to take photos of Leading Lines. Leading Lines was really fun to shoot because we are taking pictures of lines that are leading to something, and creating a really cool picture of depth.

CityScape

For this assignment, we had to find different shapes and contrasts in the city's landscape. We had to look for circles, triangles, rectangles/squares, and contrasting textures and/or shape. After scavenging for these shapes in the city, I managed to find all of the shapes. At first it was difficult, but I realized that I needed to look deeper into everything I saw because everything you see in the city contains one of these categories if not more.

Motion

In this assignment we had to play around with the notion of motion. The first type of motion that we played around with was taking pictures of still objects while shaking our cameras. For this I had my camera on a fast shutter speed causing the image to blur. The next type of motion we experimented with was panning. This one was a little more difficult. I had my camera on a very slow shutter speed, about 2-3. If it were on anything higher, the picture would turn out white. As I took the picture, I followed my subject as it moved. Lastly, we played with the idea of light. Someone stood in front of us in a dark room playing with first a white light and then later added a colorful light. The coolest was when you captured a glimpse of the person behind the light, because it makes it look like the lights are coming at you. The mood for the first pictures we took and the panning pictures are sort of eery, and the light pictures range from being ghost like to being fun and crazy!

3x3

For the 3x3 assignment, we had to take pictures of people and objects from different angles and from different distances. At first I was really confused by the assignment and wasn't sure where to start. However, as soon as I went outside and started looking at Stephanie in the doorway and at this door, I became really inspired and could identify the different angles and distances immediately. Naturally, we observe people and things from different angles and distances. After I realized this, the assignment became a lot easier and more fun!
